  • Cozy Inn. Welcoming Innkeeper

We're always looking for a quick weekendgetaway with the pup. The Simsbury 1820 House exceeded our expectations, a respite from the cold winter snow storm.

When we arrived, we were invited in by the fresh smiles of the friendly staff and a roaring fire in the parlor room. Pamela, the innkeeper, greeted us with her amazing sense of  humor. We stayed in a very large room, in the pet friendly Carriage House- and despite being pet friendly, you would think we were the first to have our dog stay there! Not a stray hair or dander in sight. LOVELY! Dinner at Metreo Bis was also great! The look  and feel of the dining room was only surpassed by the great food and wine that we were served that night. What we liked the most was the jovial sense that the waitstaff had with each other, that translated to our experience dining there. We highly recommend this place, should you be like us and travel with your pet.

  • The Innkeeper and Staff

If you are in the area- the 1820 House is a must stay! The innkeeper and staff are amazing. The common area was very inviting where I lookd forward to grabbing coffee and the continental breakfast every morning. It was a great gathering place to meet people and have interesting conversations. There is also an outstanding "foodie" restaurant on site which is a must do. Our room was upgraded and it was very nice. We also had pets and there was access to a great trail right behind the inn. Finally, the location was right in town where you could walk to restaurants and other sites.

  • Attentive Innkeeper at Simsbury 1820 House

We arrived very late at the Simsbury 1820. After a short drive from the Hartford airport, we thankfully found the B&B on the main road. As you pulled up to the driveway, the 1820 House glows at the top of the hill. The reception had been waiting for us and led us to our room on the third floor.

After a good nights sleep, we were greeted the next morning by the exceptional innkeeper. Breakfast was a few freshly baked goods that stood out from a standard continental fare. If the weather permits, take your breakfast outside to the beautiful porch.

The room was cozy. Our dormer window faced the street and we were able to view the full moon. The canopy bed was very comfortable for our stay. The bathrooms were clean. Simsbury 1820 House is what all bed & breakfast should aspire to be for their guests.

Dinner at the Metro Bis was fantastic! We had mentioned in passing that we were celebrating my husband's birthday and the innkeeper treated us  to dessert and drinks that night. So very thoughtful and unexpected. It really caught us by surprise. Make a reservation in advance, just in case the restaurant gets busy.

  • 48th Anniversary

One of th best inns we have ever stayed at. The room was romantic, the bed elegant and it was like sleeping on a cloud. The parlor was beautifully appointed with fireplace, comfortable sofas and beautiful artwork. The continental breakfast was unexpectedly wonderful with fresh baked breakfast breads and organic, gluten-free options. The in-house upscale restaurant was wonderful and presented us with an anniversary rose. But best of all was the incredible staff. Kai greeted us upon arrival and tended to all of our needs. She was friendly, personable and so helpful. Pam, the innkeeper is a treasure. She welcomed us and made us feel so special and made our anniversary celebration one we will never forget. She went out of her way to make us feel special. She is truly extraordinary. We will be returning as frequently as we can.

  • Stay at Simsbury 1820 House

From the time we arrived we were greeted by a very courteous and friendly staff at the front desk. The room was immaculate and was cleaned every day. The setting in the room was elegant and romantic. If you need anything all you had to do was ask and the staff provided it. The continental breakfast was more than you usually think it would be. From the bagels, to cereal, hard boiled eggs to the fresh baked delights made your mouth water for more. The coffee bar was over the top. The food served at the restaurant located in the inside of the Simsbury 1820 House was mouth watering and delicious, portions were large, plate appeal was wonderful, the waitresses and waiters were polite and very friendly and should be commended for making the guests feel welcomed.

The inn keeper kept the fireplace going from the time you woke up until you went to bed. She made sure the continental breakfast was there waiting for you when you woke up. She had it avail able from about 6:30 AM, was very friendly and made sure your stay was pleasant. She made you feel special and saw that all your needs were met. She is an amazing person and certainly an asset to the Simsbury 1820 House. Across the street there are several restaurants all different venues and are highly recommended. Location is near to shopping although we didn't do any.

There was NOTHING we didn't like about our experience and we were so impressed that we plan on going back to stay for another two weeks in the summer.
